Nicole Wemhoff received her Juris Doctorate with a concentration in health law from the Saint Louis University School of Law in May of 2019. SLU Law has consistently been ranked the number one law school for Health Law in U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate School rankings. While at SLU Law, Nicole was an active member of the Health Law Association and served as the Treasurer from 2017-2018. She served as a lead editor for the Journal of Health Law and Policy from 2017-2019. She also participated in a grassroots advocacy program which instrumental in changing Missouri Medicaid policy for incarcerated individuals. Prior to law school she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a degree in Health Science.
Nicole started working with Popovits Law Group in February 2018 as a law clerk before becoming a Summer Associate in May of 2018. She continued in this role until joining full time following the bar. She is knowledgeable in state and federal regulatory matters facing health care providers including privacy and confidentiality. She has reviewed over 50 independent providers’ consent forms for compliance with federal and state law and has spent time developing a universal consent to consolidate consents and promote patient transparency. She has spent time working with behavioral health care providers on a variety of commercial insurance billing matters. She has worked with Popovits Law Group to draft and submit comments on federal law including HIPAA and 42 C.F.R. Part 2, House Committee Requests for Information, and state benchmark plans with an emphasis on current behavioral health care provider needs.
